The highest peak of Monte Rosa, Punta Dufour is a classic beautiful peak. You need to have experience in hiking on mixed terrain, and basic climbing ability and knowledge (III° +). Although the route is not technically difficult, it is demanding since it unwinds at altitudes above 4500 m, requiring rigorous climbing time on path sections both uphill on the outward journey and downhill on the way back. The environment is immense, overlooking the east wall and Macugnaga; the extraordinary, jagged ridge that leads to the summit and an obligatory passage for those who want to prepare for the climb to the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.
Day 1
