Mountaineering course on Pyramid Vincent 4215 m

You’ve decided that mountaineering is the sport for you but don’t know where to start?
The Pyramid Vincent Mountaineering Course is what you are looking for
We will climb the top, where you can view the valleys of Monte Rosa from above, so high you can see as far as the Maritime Alps and Mont Blanc. It is a technical but not too difficult climb up to 4000m, we will learn roping techniques, how to use crampons and to prepare ourselves for the more demanding climbs.

Program

Day 1
Meeting with your guide at the ticket office at the Staffal ski lift at 2.30 pm, equipment checks and ascent on the ski lift to Punta Indren (3270 m) and then an hour-long hike to Refuge Mantova (3498 m). Dinner and overnight stay.


Day 2
Departure at dawn and ascent to Pyramid Vincent (4215 m) for a day of introduction to mountaineering and comparing materials, techniques and how to approach safely.


Difficulty: F+ = easy hike on the glacier
Duration of the ascent from refuge Cittá di Mantova: about 3 hours
Elevation uphill from refuge Cittá di Mantova: 700 m

  • 5 layers of clothing for the upper body (thermal shirt, light fleece, heavy fleece, down jacket, anorak.)
  • two set of gloves (soft and ski ones)
  • sunglasses (with 3 or 4 protection)
  • heavy trousers (windproof)
  • underpants
  • gaiters
  • rigid, ankle height, waterproof boots.
  • two pair of ski socks
  • headlamp
  • hat that covers your ears
  • bag sheet for the hut
  • sun screen & lip balm
  • poles
  • ice axe (if are used to it)
  • helmet is recommended but not mandatory
  • 1lt water bottle/thermos
  • harness & crampons

LIST OF AVAILABLE DATES FOR GROUP HIKES

Anyone participating in a collective group agrees that a roped climb is a non-homogeneous group of people (max 5) who depend on each other and therefore it is necessary to adapt to the rhythm of the weakest  and to all go back, in case one of the participants feels unwell

The price includes:

a guide, rental of technical equipment: harness and crampons, half board for the guide and clients in the refuge.

Mountaineering is a dangerous activity by nature, the Monte Rosa guides, all UIAGM certified, undertake to do everything possible to minimize the dangers but the risk can never be eliminated and must be accepted before registering for the our activities.

If, due to your physical condition or for any other reason, your guide decides that you are not ready for the activity you have chosen, you will be offered alternatives adapted to your level of preparation.
