Ski Touring at Castore

So, you’ve done ski mountaineering, you’re well trained and physically fit and you are looking for a new challenge?
Then, climbing Castor Peak free-heel is your next goal!
The view up there is astonishing; imagine being surrounded by all the Alpine peaks above 4000m. You will descend Castore wanting to climb them all. This descent, recommended for good skiers, is on perfect powder slopes!

Program

Taking the first run on the Monterosaski lifts you reach the Bettaforca Pass. From here, it is an approximate 3-hour ascent to refuge Quintino Sella. The route includes a stretch of about 30 minutes of aided climbing on the ridge with your skis on your back. There is a brief stopover at the refuge and then we walk towards Felik Pass at 4,100 m. which can be reached in about an hour and a half.
At the col, if the snow conditions are good, you can continue to Punta Fillak and from here, leaving your skis and skins and wearing crampons, you can reach the summit of Castore in about 20 minutes, along the south-eastern ridge. The descent is fantastic!
